Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal uses light to target pigment in hair. A consultation considers hair color, skin tone, the area of concern and your history before discussing a suitable plan.

Start with your skin and hair

Tell the clinician about recent tanning, medicines, scarring and previous hair-removal treatments. Ask about experience with your skin tone and whether the proposed device can address your hair color. Light-colored hair can respond differently because pigment is central to the process.

A course of care, not a fixed promise

Protective eyewear is used during treatment. Temporary redness or swelling may follow, and burns, pigment changes or scarring are possible. Hair grows in cycles, so more than one session may be needed; response and maintenance needs vary.

Plan around sun exposure

Avoid tanning and follow the clinician’s sun-protection guidance. Ask when to shave and which hair-removal methods to pause before treatment. Get instructions for caring for the area afterward and reporting any unexpected skin response.

Treatment questions

Does laser work equally on every hair color?

No. Hair pigment affects how the treatment works. Discuss your hair and skin together rather than assuming a particular result.

How many sessions will I need?

That depends on the area, hair characteristics and response. This page does not promise a fixed number of visits or permanent removal of every hair.

Can I start immediately after a tan?

Tell the clinician about recent sun exposure and tanning before scheduling treatment. They should decide whether to postpone and explain preparation.
